PLOTKIN BIG QUESTIONS CLASS 2
BLOG POSTS PRESENTATION 2
The Plotkin part of the presentation focused on Chapter 1 of Journey to Soul Initiation giving an overview of the developmental wheel Plotkin discusses in much greater detail in Nature and the Human Soul. Nature and the Human Soul was the first book I read by Plotkin, and it absolutely blew my mind. I spent weeks, maybe even months taking notes, journaling on it, assessing where I was on the developmental wheel. Nature and the Human Soul changed my life.
Here are the questions I asked the participants. I’m also including two other slides that specify nature and culture tasks and social and soul purpose.
What’s your reaction to Plotkin’s ecocentric developmental wheel?
What weaknesses do you have in the nature or culture tasks of the first 4 stages?
What’s your reaction to the idea that most people get stuck in Early Adolescence from Plotkin’s perspective?
How would you define your social purpose?
How would you define your soul purpose if you can define it?

Slide 2
Soul purpose is what we are meant to accomplish why we were born at this place in this time. That’s what we want to discover, if we don’t know it.
Social purpose is an Adolescent perspective on meaning because it is limited to the human world.
Social purpose is not derived from depths. Plotkin believes it is not enough to build a life on, but I disagree.
